Tyron Woodley has his first title defence, and it’s a belter.
On the UFC Fight Night weigh in show, the welterweight champion confirmed that he would be facing Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson at UFC 205 in New York City.
The new champion, who won the belt from Robbie Lawler at UFC 201, has been on the receiving end of some backlash from the fans lately. Moments after winning the belt, Woodley told number one contender Thompson that he had no interest in facing him, instead preferring to go and make bigger money against other fighters.
Yet after negotiations with the UFC, that bout has now come to fruition, with the winner likely facing Demian Maia early next year.

UFC 205 will be held at the world famous Madison Square Garden in New York on November 12, and is set to be another mega-event for the UFC. It is the first UFC event held in the state of New York since MMA was legalised there earlier this year.
