Speculation as to Ronda Rousey’s immediate future looks set to increase after the former UFC women’s bantamweight champion appear on a scripted WWE angle on the organisation’s official website.

The segment showed Rousey alongside her mixed martial arts training partners Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir as they were interviewed about two-time UFC veteran Shayna Baszler’s victory in the second round of the Mae Young Classic tournament. The three were then approached by Becky Lynch, Charlotte Flair and Bayley, three of the WWE’s biggest female stars, after which words were said.

“You name the time, you name the place,” Rousey said. “Oh not today? We’re waiting to hear from you.”

The trio of MMA fighters above, along with Baszler, were known in MMA circles as ‘The Four Horsewomen’ which is a nod to a professional wrestling stable made famous more than three decades ago.

As with anything else you see on WWE programming, nothing you see is an accident and the above video could culminate in a match in which Rousey makes her professional wrestling debut. According to MMAFighting’s Marc Raimondi, Rousey is currently training for professional wrestling in the Los Angles area.

Rousey hasn’t fought in mixed martial arts since losing to Amanda Nunes by first round TKO late last year. UFC president Dana White has suggested that her retirement from the sport is imminent.
