It’s been a busy day or two for Paul Felder.

In under 24-hours, the UFC lightweight has gone from a scheduled bout with James Vick on July 14, 2018 at UFC Fight Night 133 to meeting aggressive welterweight Mike Perry at next Saturday’s UFC 226. The news was first reported by MMAJunkie’s Mike Bohn.

For a moment, it had seemed Felder was the victim of the UFC machine and it’s determination to continue on with as little issues as possible. After Al Iaquinta had revealed his intention to withdraw from a bout with Justin Gaethje at the upcoming UFC Nebraska event, Vick was drafted to meet Gaethje as a replacement, leaving Felder without an opponent. Luckily for Felder, Yancy Medeiros (Perry’s original opponent) had to withdraw with a broken rib, leaving Perry without an opponent for next weekends super card, and a contest ready to be made.

Interestingly enough, this appears to be a contest that both men pushed for, with Felder publicly calling on Perry to accept a bout in Medeiros’ absence.
