Former UFC world champion Frankie Edgar was finished before the distance for just the second time in his career early on Saturday byย a flawless ‘Korean Zombie’ Chan Sung Jung in the main event of the UFC’s event in Busan, South Korea.
Jung immediately opened the fight at a high tempo, drawing his American opponent in to land a short punch to the chin which visibly troubled the veteran Edgar. This was followed up with more precision punching, eventually sending Edgar sprawling to the canvas where Jung worked towards back mount. As punches rained down, and with referee Marc Goddard signalling that he was closing to calling the contest, Edgar worked back to his feet only to be sent straight back down.
The fight was ended moments later by strikes on the ground at 3:18 of the opening frame. After the fight, Jung announced his intention to be the next title challenger to Alexander Volkanovski’s featherweight crown.

Elsewhere on the card Volkan Oezdemir earned his second win in succession by taking a close split decision against Alexander Rakic, ending the Austrian’s 12 fight winning streak in the process while Doo Ho Choi was defeated by knockout in a wildly entertaining affair against Charles Jourdain.
