Colby Covington has had his say about the recent spate of protests within various sports leagues in the United States following the shooting of Jacob Blake by police in Wisconsin.
Blake was shot seven times in the back by police last week, and is understood to have been paralysed. The incident came amid a tense situation in the country regarding racial equality and police brutality, with players from basketball and baseball issuing declarations which suggest that the current season could be impacted refusals to play.
The notoriously brash Covington, who is a vocal supporters of President Donald Trump, hit out at the protesters on social media, saying that those who stand in opposition to police brutality should consider ‘becoming cops’ and performing the ‘hardest job in America’.

UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman, a vocal critic of Covington’s, took the opportunity to issue a riposte of his own, referencing the reported broken jaw he gave Covington when the two met in a world title fight late last year. Usman won the contest by fifth round TKO.

“I really wish someone would just break your jaw already,” wrote Usman, referencing the injury he is understood to have handed Covington.
Covington will get a chance to re-establish his title credentials at 170-pounds when he takes on former champion Tyron Woodley on September 19.
