Earlier this week, Diego Sanchez said he was interested in facing Conor McGregor prior to his eventual retirement.
Well, not only does McGregor agree to the fight, it turns out he’s wanted to meet Sanchez in the Octagon for quite some time. In fact, he asked UFC president Dana White to book the contest just a few weeks after he finished Donald Cerrone in January.
The Irishman shared some direct messages between himself and White that took place in February of this year, where he repeatedly asked the UFC boss to find a fight for him to continue his 2020 ‘season’.

After you fought Pereira, I had requested for myself and you to compete in Dublin. This was back in February when I was working on opposition for my season, pre covid.

Never turned down offer of Tony as was suggested at the time. I stated months in advance (early February) that I was not interested in being an alternate for two consistent pullouts.
