No one can say that Max Holloway didn’t leave it all in the cage on Saturday night.
The Hawaiian former UFC featherweight champion landed an incredible 445 significant strikes in a dominant five rounds of action against Calvin Kattar on the UFC’s return to ‘Fight Island’ last weekend, averaging around one strike thrown for every two seconds of the contest.
The win, and the manner of it, had the UFC’s broadcast team of Jon Anik, Dan Hardy and Daniel Cormier falling over themselves to heap praise on the 29-year-old Holloway — and this was matched by the longest tenured member of the UFC broadcast team, Joe Rogan.

“Legit superhuman performance by [Max Holloway],” Rogan wrote on Instagram. “I am truly blown away. He was already one of the best fighters in the sport and he reached a completely new level tonight.
The combinations, the angles, the volume, the octagon IQ… it was completely off the charts. So interesting that he didn’t even spar for this camp. That was about as impressive a performance as I’ve ever seen, and hats off to [Calvin Kattar] for being one of the toughest motherf*ckers alive and a complete savage. Very few men could have weathered that barrage like he did.”
Holloway’s win will likely align him to face the winner of the upcoming featherweight title match between champion Alexander Volkanovski and Brian Ortega.
