Former UFC and Bellator champion Eddie Alvarez has had his fill of boxers chasing bouts with mixed martial arts fighters.
Alvarez, 37, had been recently linked to a boxing match with ring veteran Oscar De La Hoya but appears to have drawn a line through that particular experiment after taking to Twitter to outline his feelings about the recent trend of boxers tempting mixed martial arts fighters into the ring, saying that fighters in 40z gloves “really fight” compared to their 10 or 12oz cousins.
We fight in rings ,cages ,circles and mats … Anywhere is just fine for us …. But We Really Fight !!! If you let 10 boxers out in a cell and 10 mma fighters Whose gonna live and whose gonna Die … Case closed . Take your gloves and shoes and shove them Up Your Ass !! pic.twitter.com/I4ZDZDUOAM

“We fight in rings ,cages ,circles and mats,” wrote Alvarez. “Anywhere is just fine for us …. But We Really Fight !!! If you let 10 boxers out in a cell and 10 mma fighters Whose gonna live and whose gonna Die … Case closed . Take your gloves and shoes and shove them Up Your Ass !!”
MMA veteran Alvarez is currently signed to ONE Championship where he hopes to claim the promotion’s lightweight championship to add to the UFC and Bellator — the first fight to achieve gold in both leading North American mixed martial arts promotions. The current champion Christian Lee has been in Alvarez’s crosshairs but his hopes of a title fight suffered a blow in his most recent fight in April when he lost by decision to Ok Rae Yoon.
Alvarez has just one win in four fights with the Asian fight league.
