Jose Aldo’s one-sided decision win against Rob Font in last weekend’s UFC main event in Las Vegas has signalled that there is life in the old dog yet but if Jose Aldo has designs on securing another bantamweight world title shot, he might have to wait a while.

The unanimous decision win was the Brazilian icon’s third in succession (added to victories against Pedro Munhoz and Marlon Vera) and has again added his name to a list of potential contenders for a world title bout once Aljamain Sterling and Petr Yan settle their differences. But Aldo, who has also indicated an interest in taking on TJ Dillashaw, will have some time to see how the 135-pound division shakes out following the release of the Nevada Athletic Commission’s list of medical suspensions following last Saturday’s card, as noted by mixedmartialarts.com.

Aldo will be on the shelf for six months after suffering a fracture to his right orbital and will be cleared on June 3. As always, Aldo will be eligible to return earlier if he is cleared by a relevant medical professional. His minimum suspension will be until January 4, with no contact until December 26.

Font received a similar suspension for an orbital and nasal fracture.

Five others from the fight card have also received six-month medical bans for a variety of reasons and they are: Jamahal Hill, Jimmy Crute, Brendan Allen, Dusko Todorovic and Alonzo Meinfield.
