YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul has suggested that his August 6 fight with Tommy Fury has been scrapped following Fury’s troubles in gaining entry to the United States.

Fury was turned back from Heathrow Airport in London earlier this week ahead of a scheduled press event on Wednesday, with immigration officials telling the English boxer that he is not permitted to gain entry to the United States. This followed reports in the media which stated that his half-brother Tyson Fury had also been denied entry on two separate occasions recently, reportedly after he was added to a 600-strong ‘no fly’ list due to alleged links to Daniel Kinahan, who is wanted by authorities in various countries.

Paul has suggested that this was just an example of Tommy Fury attempting to ‘weasel’ his way out of their fight, even posting a video to social media on Wednesday from Madison Square Garden in which he said that Fury needs only to visit the US Embassy in the United Kingdom to secure entry to the country.

However, in another tweet posted on Thursday afternoon Paul appears to have drawn a line under the bout.

“Tommy Fury is in hiding,” he wrote. “Bitch made. Tyson Fury lawyer never got back to my team on setting up escrow for our $1M bet. Never believed in his brother. Instructed my team to do a Hova and move On To The Next One.”

Fury, meanwhile, has not commented at the time of writing, and nor has there been a substantive update on his ability to enter the United States.

If it is confirmed that the Fury fight is off, that leaves Paul with around five weeks to source a new opponent for the August 6 fight card in New York City.
