Saturday night’s UFC 303 is all systems go following Friday’s early weigh-ins in Las Vegas.
The event, which serves as the culmination of the UFC’s annual International Fight Week event, is to be topped by a light heavyweight title rematch between 205-pound champion Alex Pereira and former foe (and former champion) Jiri Prochazka — a fight which comes just eight or so months removed from their first meeting inside Madison Square Garden last November in a fight won by Pereira by second-round TKO.
The bout serves as the headliner after the original main event bout between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler was delayed after McGregor sustained a broken toe late in his training camp.
Elsewhere on the card, Brian Ortega and Diego Lopes clash in what is expected to be all-action affair between two fighters with fine finishing pedigree. The short notice bout, originally scheduled for 145-pounds, now takes place at lightweight.
From an Irish perspective on the card initially expected to be topped by Conor McGregor, Ian Machado Garry will seek to extend his unbeaten record to a perfect 15-0 when he takes on the striking specialist Michael ‘Venom’ Page.
