Well, that’s one way to get the job done.

Throughout the recent history of crossover bouts between boxing and mixed martial arts which have featured some of the biggest stars in combat sports like Conor McGregor and Francis Ngannou, many have wondered as to what might go down if the MMA fighter was permitted to use all of his techniques — well, now we have our answer.

ONE Championship fighter Idris Abdurashitov (4-0), who was competing in a boxing match with Iranian fighter Bagher Faraji this past past Sunday in Phuket, Thailand, took an opportunity to launch a left high kick to his opponent, catching Faraji flush on the chin and immediately sending him tumbling face-first towards the canvas.

Writing on social media after the bizarre incident, Abdurashitov said after translation: “So [I made my] debut in professional boxing. And a lifelong disqualification, I threw out that kick with a machine gun!”

It remains to be seen what type of punishment that Abdurashitov might receive for his use of the illegal technique — but it is extremely unlikely that he will be granted a boxing licence any time soon.
