We know eggs are expensive in certain parts of the world nowadays but this is ridiculous.

Chris Eubank Jr was issued with a £100,000 fine by the British Boxing Board of Control (BBBoC) on Tuesday as the region’s governing issued a financial penalty to the boxer for hitting rival Conor Benn with an egg during a recent media appearance involving the two men.

In a statement, the board said: “Following a hearing before the stewards of the British Boxing Board of Control, Chris Eubank Jr was found to be in breach of regulation 25 (misconduct) for his conduct at the press conference in Manchester for the Chris Eubank Jr v Conor Benn contest on 26th April 2025.

“As such, the stewards of the board fined Chris Eubank Jr the sum of £100,000.”

Eubank Jr and Benn are due to meet in the ring inside the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London on April 26, in what is a new frontier in a rivalry involving their fathers, Chris Eubank and Nigel Benn, in the 1990s in which they fought twice (one win for Eubank and a draw).

Ben Shalom, Eubank Jrs promoter, said that his boxer has outlined an intention to appeal what he believes to be a disproportionate fine, saying that it was “extremely over the top.”

The two had been due to fight in 2022 before Benn failed two pre-fight drug tests. Benn’s suspension was subsequently lifted, allowing the delayed bout to proceed this year.
