Tyson Fury has issued a chilling warning to Oleksandr Usyk ahead of their world title rematch this weekend in Saudi Arabia.
Fury, so often in comedic mood on the eve of his bouts, looks every inch a more dialled-in fighter this week in Riyadh as he seeks to gain a measure of revenge over Usyk for handing him the first defeat of his career this past May by split decision in their razor-close first fight which saw the Ukrainian crowned as the heavyweight division’s first undisputed champion of this century.
And in relatively brief comments at the official pre-fight press conference, Fury made clear his intentions when that first bell rings. “I’m going to dish out a whole lot of pain. I’m going to put this f*cker in the hurt locker, for sure,” he said.
“I’ve got nothing to say apart there’s going to be a whole lot of hurt and pain in this fight, you watch. Watch me go to work on this f*cker.
“The talking has been done. The first fight I talked and joked. All of my career. This time I’m serious – I’m going to do some f*****g damage here on Saturday night.”
For his part, Usyk offered Fury some words of his own: “Don’t be afraid. I will not leave you alone. See you on Saturday.”
