Some three years since Conor McGregor initiated the Irish ‘takeover’ of mixed martial arts, a new breed of fighters return to the scene of that epic summer night in 2014 determined to make their very own imprint in a sport which has blossomed in Ireland in recent years.

BAMMA 30, which takes place in Dublin’s 3Arena on Friday night, features a card stacked with some of the best European talent currently outside the UFC. In the main event, Northern Ireland’s Alan Philpott squares off with England’s Shay Walsh to determine who will replace recent UFC-signee Tom Duquesnoy as the promotion’s bantamweight champion.

Paul ‘Redser’ Redmond will be hoping to erase the disappointment of his split decision loss to Norman Parke in Belfast earlier this year when he takes on the always dangerous Rob ‘C4’ Sinclair in the co-main event, while Fabian Edwards (brother of UFC welterweight Leon Edwards) will look to continue the impressive start to his professional career with a win against the debuting Aaron Kennedy.

As well as the above, an intriguing clash between SBG’s Richie Smullen and Rhys McKee could be a candidate for fight of the night and the undefeated Ryan Curtis looks for his fourth professional win against Spanish fighter Daniel Barez.

TheMacLife will be on hand on Friday in the 3Arena, so check back for live updates.
