Brandon Moreno has some unfinished business with UFC flyweight kingpin Alexandre Pantoja.

The Mexican former champion reasserted his title credentials at last weekend’s UFC Mexico card, outpointing the former 125-pound title challenger Steve Erceg in a competitive five-round battle in Mexico City — after which he stated his case for another battle with Brazil’s Pantoja.

Moreno has already come up short against Pantoja on three separate occasions (one of those being on a season of ‘The Ultimate Fighter’), and now with two wins in the bag since has last defeat by Brandon Royval back in February of last year Moreno wants the fourth chapter of his rivalry with Pantoja to serve as the centrepiece to the UFC Noche card in Guadelejara in September.

“That’s the goal for sure in Guadalajara,” ‘The Assassin Baby’ told reporters post-fight on Saturday night, via MMA Fighting. “I think it’s perfect. Even for the UFC, for the promotion. If they want to get a pay-per-view event in Noche UFC in September in Guadalajara, I think I’m the right choice.”

He added: “I feel today I have enough argument to raise my hand and say I can be the main event in the pay-per-view in Guadalajara in September.”

Moreno is the first Mexican-born champion in UFC history, having won the title during another four-fight rivalry with a Brazilian in Deiveson Figueiredo and is also regarded by many as being among the most prominent entertainers in the UFC’s 125-pound fold.

“Let’s see what happens,” Moreno said of his ambitions. “I saw Hunter [Campbell] and he looked very happy with the people, with the crowd. That’s the thing, who knows how much I move the needle? Maybe not too much.

“Flyweights, always with the same problem, that’s crazy. But I really believe every single time I step in the Octagon, the people goes crazy. That’s a fact. Let’s see what happens.”
