For a moment, it looked as if former UFC welterweight contender Carlos Condit was done with mixed martial arts.
The ‘Natural Born Killer’ had mentioned retirement ahead of his previous couple of bouts, before seeming almost certain following a loss to Demian Maia over a year ago. Now it appears Condit has had a change of heart, taking to his social media to call on UFC matchmaker Sean Shelby to get him a fight.
Yo! @seanshelby
what's up big guy…? I'm wanting to fight in December or January… what say you!?— Carlos Condit (@CarlosCondit) September 19, 2017
“Yo! @seanshelby,” Condit posted. “What’s up big guy…? I’m wanting to fight in December or January… what say you!?”
No doubt Condit would be a welcome return for the UFC brass.
Still intensely popular amongst fans, in no small part due to his exciting fighting style, Condit would fit right in to a UFC roster that currently feels lacking in recognisable names. While Condit currently rides a two fight losing streak (one to the aforementioned Maia), one of those was an exceptionally close fought decision defeat to Robbie Lawler, the then welterweight champion.
Currently, the UFC has four events scheduled in December including two pay-per-view cards (UFC 218 & 219).
