It is now just over a week until a conclusion is drawn in the Conor McGregor vs. Dustin Poirier rivalry.

Around seven months since their last meeting on ‘Fight Island’, and with the scores between the two lightweight standouts currently standing at one win apiece, McGregor and Poirier are primed to do battle once again next Saturday night in Las Vegas in the UFC 264 headliner which is expected to be the biggest fight card of the year.

And according to McGregor himself, facing him three times in a career is enough for an “early grave” for any man.

“3 fights against me for any man is an early grave. God bless,” wrote McGregor on Twitter, followed by a praying hands emoji.

Next Saturday night represents the first time in McGregor’s career that he will have faced an opponent on three occasions, after previously fighting Nate Diaz twice — the second of which saw him avenge a defeat to the Stockton man months prior.

UFC legend Georges St-Pierre, impressed by McGregor’s performance in the second fight against Diaz, cited that as evidence as to why he thinks it will be McGregor who has his hand raised in Las Vegas next weekend.

“I think McGregor is very good in rematches — and I think he’s going to have the victory,” the former two-weight world champion said.

“I think he’s probably going to win in the second round by knockout.”
