Conor McGregor has issued a statement to social media following the cancellation of the UFC 303 press event scheduled to take place in Dublin on Monday. 

It was revealed early on Monday morning that the event scheduled to take place inside Dublin’s 3Arena featuring McGregor, his UFC 303 opponent Michael Chandler and UFC CEO Dana White had been, as the promotion put it, postponed.

But while no firm reason was given by the UFC, McGregor took to social media on Monday evening to apologise to fight fans for the development, and said that he is anticipating his return to the Octagon.

“In consultation with the UFC, today’s press conference was cancelled due to a series of obstacles outside of our control,” a statement posted to McGregor’s social media said. “I apologise to my Irish fans, and fans around the world, for the inconvenience and appreciate all your passion and support. I can’t wait to put on the greatest all-time show in the Octagon.”

No further comment has been issued as of yet by the UFC (following their initial statement), nor Chandler who has indicated on social media that he is continuing his preparation.

McGregor and Chandler are slated to meet in the UFC 303 main event on June 29 in Las Vegas; a main event fight which will serve as the culmination to the UFC’s annual International Fight Week.
