Don’t expect some of the UFC’s biggest names of yesteryear to return for the organisation’s bumper card in April, UFC CEO Dana White has said.

The UFC 300 event, billed as the 2024 biggest fight card, is still without a main event despite a rake of announcements for the main and prelim card. The dearth atop the card has stoked speculation that UFC brass are attempting to convince some of the biggest names in its history to come back for one night only, much as Brock Lesnar did at UFC 200 back in July 2016.

But according to Dana White, don’t hold your breath for Lesnar — or Ronda Rousey or Georges St-Pierre — to strap on their 4oz gloves one more time at the event, due to take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on April 13.

“Ronda’s not coming back,” White told Sportsnet, as noted by MMA Fighting. “GSP’s not coming back. Brock Lesnar’s like 45 years old or pushing 50. None of those calls were made.”

Lesnar last fought professionally against Mark Hunt on that UFC 200 event. Georges St-Pierre retired weeks after defeating Michael Bisping for the middleweight title in November 2017, while Ronda Rousey’s last MMA bout was a December 2016 loss to Amanda Nunes.

So far, two (well, kinda) title bouts have been announced for UFC 300. Women’s strawweight champion Zhang Weili will defend his title against compatriot Yan Xioanan in what is the first all-Chinese title fight in UFC history, while Justin Gaethje will defend the so-called ‘BMF’ title against former featherweight kingpin Max Holloway.

Additionally, Aljamain Sterling makes his 145-pound debut against Calvin Kattar, while other fighters like Jiri Prochazka and Bo Nickal have also been confirmed to compete.

Further UFC 300 bouts are expected to be announced in the coming days, including the main event to top the card.
