April’s UFC 300 card has had another high profile fight added to it.
It was revealed by UFC CEO Dana White late on Tuesday that Justin Gaethje will defend his ‘BMF’ title at the April 13 event against the former featherweight champion Max Holloway who will step up to the 155-pound weight class for the first time in exactly four years after suffering a defeat to Dustin Poirier for the interim lightweight championship at UFC 236 in April 2019. Since then, Holloway has lost just three fights — all of them to reigning 145-pound champion Alexander Volkanovski.
Gaethje, meanwhile, won the UFC’s latest iteration of its ‘BMF’ title this past July with head kick KO of Poirier at UFC 291. It is the second title bout announced for the bumper card, even if it is a somewhat unofficial one, following the recent announcement of a women’s strawweight fight between champion Zhang Weili and her compatriot Yan Xiaonan.
Elsewhere, White also announced that Jim Miller — who has competed on both the UFC 100 and UFC 200 cards — will fight at UFC 300 too, with matchmakers pairing Miller with another veteran in Bobby Green.
UFC 300, which is still without an announced main event, takes place in the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on April 13.
