As Las Vegas attempts to heal itself in the wake of the deadliest mass shooting in the history of the United States, UFC president Dana White has announced that Saturday night’s UFC 216 will play host to more than 1,500 first responders and victims of the Oct. 1st tragedy.
Las Vegas has been the home of the UFC for the majority of its history with the company holdinh several events in the city each year. The company’s head office, as well as a state of the art performance institute, are both housed in the area.
In the wake of last week’s shooting, White announced that the UFC would donate more than $1 million in relief funds for those affected by the shooting. In addition, White confirmed to the media on Friday that tonight’s UFC 216 would host 1,500 guests connected to the tragedy.
“I have 1,500-plus first responders coming to the fight on Saturday,” White said. “And, we’re probably going to have six or seven of the people that were shot here on Saturday night. This show is gonna be unlike any show you’ve ever seen UFC produce.”
