After being forced out of a top contender bout against Marvin Vettori (who has since been handed a middleweight title shot) Darren Till will get his own opportunity to revitalise his championship credentials when he is expected to face veteran fighter Derek Brunson on August 14.
News of the fight was first reported by ESPN, though it hasn’t yet been officially confirmed by the UFC.
The fight will be Till’s first since losing by decision to Robert Whittaker last July. He was expected to make his return several weeks ago but a broken collarbone sustained in training forced him out of the fight, and he was replaced by Kevin Holland who would lose by unanimous decision to the Italian fighter.

Till has won just one of his last four fights, also losing to Tyron Woodley and Jorge Masvidal in his final two fights at welterweight before dropping the decision to Whittaker. His last win was a November 2019 split decision against Kelvin Gastelum.
Brunson, meanwhile, is currently in the midst of a purple patch in his career and has pieced together four straight wins at 185-pounds, with those coming against Holland, Edmen Shahbazyan, Ian Heinisch and Elias Theodorou. He hasn’t been defeated in the Octagon since he lost to Israel Adesanya back in Novemnber 2018.
