Donald Cerrone has been saying he’s returning to the lightweight division for quite some time, but every fight he’s offered by the UFC stays at 170-pounds.
This time, however, he’s not having it. After Saturday night at UFC Denver — a fan favourite contest with Mike Perry — Cerrone will be telling the promotion he wants back down to 155, especially considering how easy it is for him to make the welterweight limit.
“I’m 174[-pounds] right now. Maybe a quick jerk off, I’ll be alright,” Cerrone said, speaking to media ahead of UFC Denver. “I’m trying to put my foot down now and say I’m going back to ’55. It’s time.”
And how hard is it for Cerrone to lose that extra 15? Could he make 155-pounds in two days time?
“I’d have to get a couple porno mags and really get to work, wouldn’t I?” he joked.
While Cerrone has nothing against Perry himself, a man with whom he sympathises, the fight on Saturday does have some personal anomisty involved — namely with Perry’s coach Mike Winkeljohn.
“Winkeljohn drew his line in the sand,” Cerrone said. “And I get to spit on him on the other side so it’s alright. Fuck him. Here’s your clickbait motherfuckers, fuck you Winkeljohn. … My fight’s with Perry, it has nothing to do with Wink. That’s outside drama that won’t come in play on Saturday. My opponent’s Perry, he has nothing to do with any of that.”
