Prior to last Saturday night at Bellator 198, Dillon Danis had done an undeniably great job of getting fans interested in his professional debut.
By flaunting his brash confidence — much in the manner of his mentor Conor McGregor — Danis had excited (or irritated) enough viewers to pay attention as he defeated Kyle Walker in the first round. And, if there’s ever a sign that Danis’ approach to building his profile is working, the high level names who voiced their disappointment at his victory proved it. Names like Michael Chandler, Al Iaquinta, Rafael Dos Anjos and more all aired their grievances about the jiu-jitsu practitioner’s success, but no more so than Michael Bisping.
Speaking on his podcast Believe You Me, Bisping decried what he felt was an imitation act by Danis to be more like McGregor, even pointing at Danis’ clothes as being too similar.
“Not only is he Conor McGregor’s jiu-jitsu coach, he’s seeming to try to morph and copy McGregor’s antics,” Bisping said on the show. Certainly his clothing. Conor does wear some fucking really nice, cool shit and Dillon Danis is like the poor, second-hand, overwashed, hand-me-down version because his clothes are fucking terrible.”
Almost immediately, Danis dug out an old picture of Bisping wearing a jacket that.. wouldn’t be to everyone’s taste, writing “don’t think you should be giving out fashion tips kid, stay in your lane.”

To be fair to Bisping, he didn’t shy away from the fashion choice, instead pointing out that if Danis wanted to embarrass him with bad pictures from the past, there were plenty worse to chose from.
“Well affliction paid me a lot to wear that jacket. It’s called sponsorship, you may wanna try and get some. Also, if you’re gonna spend hours trawling the web looking for a bad pic, there’s way worse ones than that,” he wrote back.

In the end, however, it seemed like it was all in good fun, with Bisping even reaching out to Danis to invite him onto ‘Believe You Me’ to talk about the back and forth.
Do me a favor my friend. Message me your number and let’s talk like gentlemen on Monday on the @BYMPod all love and respect, I’m just a ball buster. Hit me back! Let’s speak like men, right?
