Georges St-Pierre is not giving up on a fight with Michael Bisping for the middleweight title.

With Robert Whittaker and Yoel Romero facing each other for the interim 185-pound title this weekend, most had assumed that any bout between Bisping and St-Pierre had been scrapped.

With St-Pierre continuing his hiatus due to an eye injury, UFC president Dana White had announced the potential fight had been scrapped. Instead, White said, Bisping would move on to face either Romero or Whittaker, while St-Pierre met the winner of a welterweight title fight between Tyron Woodley and Demian Maia.

“Georges and I talked a couple days ago when he was in Vegas,” White said, speaking with MMAJunkie recently. “Georges is saying he wants to fight; we’ll get this thing figured out. We’re talking about Tyron Woodley and Demian Maia. These two are going to fight soon. That will free up the 170-pound champion for Georges St-Pierre to return and try to regain his belt.”

Today, however, with the interim title fight just two days away, St-Pierre has rolled the dice one more time to try and get his Bisping fight. As reported by Ariel Helwani, St-Pierre sent both Bisping and White a text message, calling for a fight at Madison Square Garden in New York.

“Michael, you should man up and fight me 11/4 in NY,” St-Pierre said. “I’m coming out of retirement to retire you. Dana, please make it happen.”
