The biggest woman’s mixed martial arts fight is signed and ready to be delivered. At UFC 219, Holly Holm will challenge Cris Cyborg for the UFC women’s featherweight championship.
It puts an end to months of speculation, and prolonged negotiations. Indeed, just last week it had seemed as if the fight was off the table, following comments made by Holm’s agent. However tonight it appears the sign has indeed been agreed upon by both parties. Lance Pugmire of the L.A. Times first reported the news.
Holm and Cyborg are the two biggest names in women’s MMA. Holm is a former bantamweight champion who reached national news after dethroning Ronda Rousey. Cyborg on the other hand has not lost an MMA fight in twelve years. The two have long been linked with fighting the other, but for various reasons have never met in the cage.
The two will now finally meet at UFC 219 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
