After trying his hand with varying success in the boxing ring, the Jake Paul roadshow looks set to arrive in mixed martial arts. 

Paul, arguably the most prominent in this new wave of ‘influencer boxing,’ holds a win over Diaz from their meeting in Texas in what was Diaz’s professional debut in the sport in August — but according to reports on Monday, the two could be set to renew their rivalry inside of a cage after Paul’s promotional group, MVP, said that their man has agreed to an MMA bout with veteran fighter Diaz.

The fight, should Diaz agree, would take place under the auspices of the Professional Fighters League (PFL).

For the record: Jake Paul will not be boxing Nate Diaz again.

“For the record, Jake Paul will not be boxing Nate Diaz again,” a social media message from MVP read on Monday afternoon. “Nate Diaz and Jake Paul have received an offer from [the PFL] to rematch in MMA in the SmartCage. Jake Paul has accepted the offer.”

Paul signed a deal with the PFL earlier this year to compete in the promotion’s new division, ‘PFL PPV Super Fights,’ which was designed with the intention of hosting big-name fights that don’t necessarily fit within the standard framework of a recognised weight class. The bout, should it be agreed, would take place in the PFL’s ten-sided cage and under modified MMA rules which would likely see elbow strikes banned.

It remains to be seen if Diaz will accept an MMA rematch, but the Californian had expressed an interest online in a boxing rematch in December — which has apparently been ruled out, according to the Monday statement from MVP.

In their ten round boxing match in August, Paul claimed the victory by a score of 98-91 (x2) and 97-92.
