Jared Gordon thought he won Saturday night’s UFC 282 co-main event fight against Paddy Pimblett — and he certainly wasn’t alone.
Social media was awash with claims of a ‘robbery’ in the aftermath of Pimblett’s unanimous decision (29-28) win, with several fighters expressing their shock at the judges’ view of the contest. Even the media (as per MMADecisions.com) were unanimous (with the exception of one) in their opinion that Gordon was the rightful winner of the three round fight, in which Gordon appeared to land the bigger shots, scored several takedowns and had more than six total minutes of control time.
Gordon repeatedly found a home for a left hook as he took advantage of the Liverpool fighter’s occasionally porous striking defence, and while Pimblett did land several clean shots of his own — they didn’t seem sufficient to tilt the fight in his favour.
MMA, though, can offer up some unusual decisions from time to time and this seems to have been one of them, at least from Gordon’s point of view.

“I was robbed everyone knows it,” Gordon noted on Twitter soon after the conclusion of the fight. “I can cry about it but I been back from worst and God’s plan is the best plan so I know there’s something big to come from it.”
As for Pimblett, he certainly doesn’t agree with the accusations that the judges gifted him the win.
“I’m bit annoyed after people saying they thought I lost,” he said after the fight. “I’m pretty annoyed, to be honest. But I’m 4-0 in the UFC – haters going to hate, you’ve got to get on with it.”
