Kevin Holland isn’t one for sitting around.
The crowd favourite, who recently defeated the returning Gunnar Nelson by unanimous decision at last month’s UFC event in London, will fight Vicente Luque at UFC 316 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey on June 7, according to a UFC release on Friday.
The bout will be Holland’s third of 2025, following his win over Nelson and a January submission loss to Reiner de Ridder in what was a middleweight contest.
170-pound veteran Luque returns to the UFC cage for the first time since a December submission win against Themba Gorimbo, which saw him overcome a 1-3 run which included losses to top competition Belal Muhammad, Geoff Neal and Joaquin Buckley.
Prior to his April 2022 defeat to current welterweight champion Muhammad, Luque had pieced together a 10-1 sequence in the UFC’s welterweight division. He had previously been booked to fight Nick Diaz on two occasions before Diaz withdraw from both.
UFC 316 is set to be headlined by a bantamweight title clash between champion Merab Dvalishvili and former champ Sean O’Malley.
