Whether or not this is a ‘talk it into reality’ type of situation or not Khamzat Chimaev claims that he has agreed to fight UFC middleweight champion Alex Pereira in December and that he is now awaiting the Brazilian’s agreement, according to a social media post from the undefeated Chimaev.

Chimaev had been expected to challenge for the UFC welterweight title soon after defeating Kevin Holland in his last bout but this was significantly complicated by Leon Edwards’ title win against Kamaru Usman in August and the inevitable trilogy fight which will follow — leaving Chimaev with a longer than expected path to challenge for his first piece of UFC gold.

But soon after Pereira’s fifth-round TKO win against Israel Adesanya earlier this month, Chimaev has been vocal in calling for a bout with the Brazilian kickboxer who he claims is “easy money” and that he would finish inside of the first round.

And Chimaev has gone one step further on social media, claiming early on Monday that he has “agreed” to fight Pereira on December 10 and is just awaiting the Brazilian to sign his copy of the bout agreement.

“10 December let’s go, i already agreed. Now it’s your turn,” Chimaev wrote on Twitter, addressing Pereira.

UFC 282 in Las Vegas is the event Chimaev has targeted; a card set to be headlined by a light heavyweight title rematch between Jiri Prochazka and Glover Teixeira. The UFC traditionally likes to stack its end of year cards and would presumably be more than content with adding a Chimaev vs. Pereira bout to the event, but there has been no real indication from the UFC or Pereira that this bout is in the works on three weeks’ notice.
