King Green isn’t ready to walk away just yet after his third defeat in his past four fights.
Green suffered a spectacular first-round spinning heel kick knockout loss to the rising contender Mauricio Ruffy at last weekend’s UFC 313 in Las Vegas — with each of his recent defeats coming in the first frame following losses to Paddy Pimblett and Jalin Turner.
But despite the setback the 38-year-old former King of the Cage lightweight champion says he still has some unfinished business in the sport and will once again make the walk to the cage for what will be his 52nd professional contest.
“This is the game we play,” Green announced on social media, as noted by Verdict MMA.
“There’s wins, there’s losses. This is how it goes, you know? Shout out to Ruffy. You did your thing, brother. I’d like to see you have success in your future. Obrigado. And shout out to everybody that rides with me and came through this whole thing, man. I love all you guys.”
Green has some notable wins on his record, including over the likes of Tony Ferguson, Grant Dawson, Clay Guida and Josh Thomson and says that he is sure he can arrest his recent slump and get back to winning ways.
“I thank you so much for supporting me through all this bullsh*t, but we’re not done,” Green added, addressing his supporters. “I just need some more time to get myself back used to being in the cage. We’ll be back, I promise you that.”
