Leon Edwards says it’s time for him and Jorge Masvidal to settle the score.

The two welterweights have a longstanding feud that goes back to a fight night in London last year, when Masvidal hit Edwards in a famous altercation backstage. Since then, the two have often been linked to a grudge match, although schedules and plans have apparently differed.

Now, with 170-pound champion Kamaru Usman meeting Gilbert Burns later this year, Edwards believes it’s the perfect time for him to meet Masvidal in the Octagon, even with the American coming off a loss to the champion. Taking to his social media, Edwards called for the fight with a brief post, writing: “Let’s make it happen, it’s the only fight that make sense for me outside the championship, everyone else in the top 5 already booked so let’s get it.”

Masvidal was last seen in July falling short to Usman on short notice, but pledged he would double down on his mission to win a world title. Despite the defeat, he remains one of the most popular fighters on the UFC roster.
