Both Jake Paul and Nate Diaz will take on (potentially) the longest fights of their respective careers in Dallas, Texas on August 5.

The boxing match between the YouTuber-turned-boxer and the former UFC fighter was originally scheduled to take place across eight three-minute rounds but will now instead be a ten-round affair, after the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation gave the green light to extend the contest by a further two rounds.

Paul initially wrote on social media earlier this month that Diaz had requested the fight to take place over ten rounds, noting that he believes that Diaz’s cardio must be good. Diaz, though, later chimed in and said that he was “cool with 8”.

But on Tuesday, Pau noted, again on Twitter: “10 rounds, if the fight goes to the later rounds, it’s obviously a big advantage for Nate. I know that, he knows that (that’s why he made the request), the oddsmakers know that. But I don’t give a f*ck. I’m all in.”

Paul’s last five bouts have all been scheduled for eight rounds, with him going the distance in wins against former UFC champions Tyron Woodley and Anderson Silva, and losing to boxer Tommy Fury in February.

Diaz, meanwhile, has gone five five-minute rounds in the UFC on three occasions against Benson Henderson, Conor McGregor and Leon Edwards. He lost all three of those fights.

Diaz vs. Paul is a DAZN pay-per-view event. The undercard for the event has yet to be finalised.
