UFC veteran Tony Ferguson was arrested Sunday following a car accident in Hollywood, TMZ has reported.
The 39-year-old, who has fought 21 times in the UFC, was arrested by police in Hollywood, California after allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol. Ferguson also reportedly struck two cars outside of a nightclub, with his own vehicle having flipped onto its side.
The report indicates that Ferguson refused a field sobriety test and that he was “very uncooperative” with police officers. The UFC fighter was unharmed in the accident, and was arrested at 2am local time.
A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) confirmed to MMA Fighting that Ferguson had been arrested and that it was due to him allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol. He was booked at 6am local time, and has been charged with a misdemeanour and has had bail set at $30,000.
Ferguson was released from custody just after noon local time on Sunday and is due in court related to the incident on June 1.
‘El Cucuy’ most recently fought in the UFC in September where he was defeated by submission by Nate Diaz. It was the former interim lightweight champion’s fifth consecutive defeat in the organisation, stemming back to his most recent win against Donald Cerrone in June 2019.
