Tony Ferguson won’t be seen inside a UFC cage for another 60 days following his gruelling showdown with Justin Gaethje last Saturday night, but it will likely be far longer than that.
Ferguson lost the UFC 249 headliner against Gaethje by fifth-round TKO and was transported to hospital afterwards for treatement on a reported broken orbital bone — an ailment which prompted the athletic commission governing last weekend’s event to issue him with a two-month medical suspension.
Gaethje, meanwhile, was found to have suffered no major damage of note and was not issued with a suspension.
Elsewhere on the card, Anthony Pettis will be sidelined for 180 days after his win against Donald Cerrone while Calvin Kattar gets the same suspension following his victory against Jeremy Stephens.
