English middleweight Tom Breese hasn’t had a particularly good time of things lately.

Last June he suffered his first career loss when he was outpointed by Sean Strickland at UFC 199. Then, in what was intended to be his comeback fight last month, Breese was deemed unable to compete against Oluwale Bamgbose on the day of the event in his home country and the fight was pulled from theUFC Fight Night 107 card.

Today on his official Instagram, Breese revealed another roadblock to his career when he announced that he has suffered a significant knee injury.

Here we go again.

The recovery time for an injury such as a torn ACL can be as much as a year depending on severity. Dominick Cruz and Georges St-Pierre have both successfully recovered from similar injuries, though after surgery and extensive rehabilitation. Conor McGregor tore his ACL in his second UFC bout against Max Holloway in 2013 and returned to the cage almost exactly 11 months later to face Diego Brandao in Dublin.

Breese didn’t reveal how the injury was incurred.

Tom Breese recently spoke to TheMacLife.com about his future UFC plans, saying that the training he was undertaking with “BJJ encyclopedia” John Danaher was taking his game to a new level.

“I think John’s students are the most exciting grapplers in the world right now”, Breese said of his coach. “It’s all about the submission and that’s all that really matters, doesn’t it? A guy can beat you on points but you feel truly beat him when you submitted someone. That’s the name of the game; submitting your opponent. That’s what John’s style is based on.”
