It is something of a homecoming for the UFC this weekend when the organisation travels to Denver, Colorado, for a card headline by a women’s bantamweight scrap between Valentina Shevchenko and Julianna Pena.
Denver was the host city for the very first UFC event in 1993 but, in addition to that, is the city that Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone spent his formative years. As soon as the UFC announced the Denver event, Cerrone made it his business to earn a place on the card (to be fair, he tries to get on practically every card) and was duly rewarded with a spot opposite fellow welterweight Jorge Masvidal in the co-main event.
Cerrone spoke to the UFC’s Megan Olivi about his opponent this weekend, as well as how excited he is to compete in the city which he considers to be his hometown.
