It takes a special kind of athlete to survive a tight guillotine choke applied by Charles Oliveira.
Well, Arman Tsarukyan is a special kind of athlete. The 28-year-old Armenian, winner of nine of his past ten in the UFC’s 155-pound fold, will challenge for the organisation’s lightweight championship at this month’s UFC 311 in Inglewood, California knowing that if he can extend his winning streak by one he will add his name to the history books forever.
And a glance at his recent resume shows exactly why. In addition to Oliveira, whom he defeated by split decision this past April, Tsarukyan’s recent record displays wins over the likes of Beneil Dariush, Joaquin Silva and Joel Alvarez as he earned a shot at the lightweight strap.
