It is a pivotal week in the mixed martial arts career of Henry Cejudo.
The former UFC flyweight, bantamweight and 2012 Olympic champion returned to the cage following a three-year hiatus in May 2023 when he unsuccessfully challenged then-champ Aljamain Sterling for the 135-pound crown, following that up with a loss to current champ Merab Dvalishvili in February of last year.
Now without a win since a May 2020 victory over Dominick Cruz, Cejudo, 38, returns this weekend in Seattle, Washington to take on the 21-8 Team Alpha Male fighter Song Yadong — the winner of five of his past seven — knowing that a third loss in a row likely ends any realistic ambitions at being a top-ranked member of the UFC’s bantamweight ladder.
On his day, though, Cejudo can lay claim to being among the finest flyweight/bantamweight fighters of his generation, as evidenced by comprehensive wins over the likes of TJ Dillashaw, Demetrious Johnson, Sergio Pettis and Marlon Moraes — the latter of which you can watch in full below.
