Leon Edwards is chasing redemption in London this weekend.

The former UFC welterweight champion saw his near decade-long undefeated streak shattered by old rival Belal Muhammad in the main event of the organisation’s event in Manchester, England last summer — surrendering his 170-pound title in a fight which took place at around 6am local time to accommodate the United States audience.

This time around, on Saturday night at The O2 Arena in London, Edwards has a chance to erase the memories of his last fight in a bid to get back into the win column as he seeks to position himself once again in the title talk in the UFC’s welterweight fold.

His opponent on Saturday, Sean Brady, employs a somewhat similar style to Muhammad (with his only career loss coming to the current champion) and will provide an apt litmus test as to Edwards’ standing in the division now that he is once again a contender chasing gold.

Edwards defended the UFC welterweight title on two occasions, defeating first Kamaru Usman from whom he spectacularly claimed the championship and then in late December 2023 against the multiple time title challenger Colby Covington.
