Sean Brady faces the biggest challenge of his professional career this weekend.
On Saturday night, the Philly native will make the walk to the cage in front of what is expected to be a hostile crowd inside The O2 Arena in the English capital where he will battle the former UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards — knowing that if he becomes just the second man to defeat ‘Rocky’ in the best part of a decade, it will provide a gigantic boost to his plans of one day capturing the organisation’s welterweight crown.
To be clear, there is no denying that Brady has earned this opportunity. Defeated just once in his 18-fight career, Brady has added some big names to his list of victims: Kelvin Gastelum, Michael Chiesa and Jake Matthews included.
But it was Brady’s unanimous decision win over former title challenger Gilbert Burns in his last outing in the cage in September of last year that signposted his potential status as a bona fide title threat.
