If ever you wanted to watch a typical Sean Strickland fight, this would be the one.
The American, 32, stands alone atop the UFC’s middleweight summit owing to his surprise (yet entirely comprehensive) win against former champ Israel Adesanya this past August. But his path to the title was a long one. The fight that earned him the title shot was typical Strickland fare: walk-forward aggression coupled with fundamental boxing prowess, to the point that his opponent on July 1 in Las Vegas, Abus Magomedov, wilted under the pressure.
And that is Sean Strickland to a tee. He finds a hole in his opponents’ armour, and targets it until it becomes a wider opening. From there, he pounces.
