As we noted yesterday, Virna Jandiroba is one of the better submission grapplers in all of women’s MMA.

The 36-year-old Brazilian, the former Invicta champion, has scored 13 submissions in her 20 career wins to date en route to being ranked fifth on the UFC’s strawweight ladder. In this weekend’s UFC main event fight from the organisation’s Apex facility just outside Las Vegas, Jandiroba can move another step closer to becoming a two-organisation champion if she can overcome the always dangerous Amanda Lemos (currently ranked third).

In the all-Brazil clash, Lemos will likely have to fight a flawless bout if she is to avoid Jandiroba’s spider-web submissions — a fate that, to name but one, Felice Herrig was unable to manage when they squared off in the cage all the way back in August 2020.

Check that one out below.
