If there is a so-called ‘people’s main event’ at this weekend’s UFC 273 event in Jacksonville, Florida it is the showdown between former title challenger Gilbert Burns and the surging welterweight contender Khamzat Chimaev.
Despite two title fights topping this Saturday night’s card, much of the talk surrounding the event is to do with Chimaev and the man considered by many to be the first true test of his title credentials in Burns, the submission expert and multiple time world Brazilian Jiu Jitsu world champion.
A quick look at the numbers surrounding the fight card, including the UFC’s YouTube channel and our very own at The Mac Life, give a glimpse as to the fan interest in the bout, with videos detailing the fight outperforming even the two title fights above it.
And if you needed nay more evidence of the above, check out the video of the first face-to-face meeting of the two fighters which has received nearly 250,000 views online in the hours after it was posted.
