With just hours separating us from Dana White vows will be the most spectacular event in UFC history, Saturday night’s featured players sized each other up Thursday ahead of their main event clash inside the Las Vegas Sphere.
Bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley will defend his 135-pound strap in the main event against top contender Merab Dvalishvili; a fighter who has defeated three former world champions in his last three fights (Henry Cejudo, Petr Yan, Jose Aldo).
For the Georgian fighter, the bout represents an opportunity at revenge after O’Malley claimed his world title from Dvalishvili’s close friend and training partner Aljamain Sterling — and he doesn’t think that O’Malley has the necessary tools to repeat this feat.
“Keep dreaming, keep dreaming,” Dvalishvili said in response to O’Malley’s KO ambitions on Saturday night. “Nobody knock me out yet. Nobody. Keep dreaming, Sean O’Malley. You don’t knock out ‘Chito’ Vera.”
“I did knock out Aljo though, didn’t I? Didn’t I?” O’Malley shot back.
