If Conor McGregor and Dan Hooker want to battle in the cage, Dana White is more than happy to see it.

Speculation rose this past weekend that McGregor and Hooker, who were both in Spain to attend the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship event in Marbella, had tentatively agreed to face one another in the UFC Octagon next year as McGregor awaits formalisation of his return to the sport following a serious leg injury sustained in his most recent bout in the cage.

McGregor even told a reporter in Marbella that February is being lined up as the date for the potential fight — and questioned on the matter in Tuesday in Las Vegas, White said that he is more than open to the idea.

“That would be a great fight. I like that fight,” White said, adding “[but] I did not announce a fight.” He also confirmed that he has not yet spoken to either McGregor or Hooker about the potential contest.

However, there is a spanner in the works for that February date to go ahead: the birth of Hooker’s next child with the New Zealander saying recently that he would be good to go in January or March — just not the due month of February.

“The guy [McGregor] has got money coming out of his ears,” Hooker said, via Essentially Sports. If I had that amount of money in the bank, you wouldn’t see me anywhere near after this fight.

“I’m good to go January or March. The misses is due February so no can go. I’ve got a little girl on the way. . Girl dad. The fighter’s curse continues.”
