Tony Bellew and David Haye have agreed terms on a rematch of their initial meeting last March, a bout in which Bellew upset the odds by beating Haye via 11th round stoppage.

Their second meeting is set for The O2 Arena in London on December 17th.

WBC cruiserweight champion Bellew made his heavyweight debut in the first bout with Haye. The two Englishmen stoked the flames of their rivalry in the months leading up to the bout earlier this year and ultimately it was Bellew who was successful after an ankle injury aggravated by Haye severely disrupted the former world heavyweight champion’s ability to move freely in the ring.

Bellew got the win late in the fight after a second knockdown left Haye tangled in the ropes, prompting his corner to throw in the towel and says that the result will be no different this time around.

Speaking to the BBC, Bellew said: “I’ll be victorious and end Haye’s career. Another loss to me closes the curtain on the Hayemaker. I will have the exact same attitude I had going into the first fight – win at all costs.”

Haye, meanwhile, says that his injury concerns are behind him and is confident that there will be no repeat of the first fight.

“Last time the script was thrown out the window and the unpredictability of sport revealed itself in its most raw form,” Haye said.

“Bellew somehow won the lottery in our first fight, but believe me, he won’t win the lottery twice. I’ve been training every day for over six months. I already feel fitter, stronger and more athletic than I did for our first showdown. I will relish the opportunity to re-write the ending of the Haye-Bellew story.”
