Usually, fighter’s head to their corner for tactical advice and encouragement. But when Anthony Joshua sat on his stool on Saturday night in The Garden, it seems he was looking for help in a more general sense.
Joshua, the now former heavyweight champion, was dropped by opponent Andy Ruiz twice in the third round after the Brit attempted to finish things early on. In truth, Joshua never seemed to get back into the contest after that, and was once again rocked in the sixth before eventually being finished in the seventh.
Moments before the climax of the fight, Joshua was heard asking his cornermen ‘Why am I feeling like this?’, raising questions about how much he’d really recovered from the early knockdowns.
